Brendan Fleming Speaks at the Stop Forced Adoption Conference

Brendan Fleming was recently a guest and speaker at Justice for Families' Stop Forced Adoptions Conference, held locally at the Birmingham and Midlands Institute. His address gave both legal insight into Family Law and invaluable advice to the audience.

Alongside Brendan spoke other stalwarts in the fight against injustice in the Family Law arena including John Hemming MP; Christopher Booker, columnist for the Telegraph; and Denise Robertson of ITV's This Morning.

Brendan Fleming Solicitors praised in The Telegraph for "upholding an important principle of the law" and "reversing a dreadful injustice."

Columnist Christopher Brooker has praised Brendan Fleming as a “shining light in the nightmare world in which so many parents find themselves” for his work in resolving a care case involving Norfolk social workers that literally crossed national boundaries.

As more fully detailed as one of our case studies, the case involved a pregnant mother and her partner, the father of the child, who had been threatened by Norfolk social workers with the seizure of their child as soon as it was born. In an attempt to avoid this, they set up a new home in France beyond the reach of social services. Or so they thought. At an estimated cost of £8,000 in tax payer's money, Norfolk social workers travelled to the continent to return the baby to England.

A French journalist following the case encountered Brendan Fleming outside court and, being aware of Brendan's reputation as "the one solicitor who has won a reputation for fighting the manifold abuses and injustices of this crazily corrupted system," she referred the parents to him. Naturally, being Brendan, he took the case without a moment's hesitation.

Challenging the decision of the Norwich judge in the High Court, our Family Law solicitor, Dawn Sweeney, pbtained a ruling that discharged all the earlier orders, ordered that the baby be returned to French soil and closed the case; very much affirming the reputation of the "doughty Brendan Fleming"!
